The Town and Country Resort and Conference Center provides enough space for all the posters to be displayed for the entire meeting. There will be two posters on one 4 ft. x 6 ft. poster board. Each poster author will be assigned to share a poster board. Each author will have a net useable space that measures 2’9" (84 cm) wide x 3’6" (107 cm) high.

There will be two poster sessions in the Golden West Room. Only one presenter will be present at each board at a time.

Authors may begin posting their presentations on Thursday, January 5 at 6:00 pm. All posters should be in place by 12:00 noon on Friday. Poster authors will present according to the following schedule:

Friday, January 6 Poster Session 1
All even numbered posters 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
All odd numbered posters 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Saturday, January 7 Poster Session 2
All odd numbered posters 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
All even numbered posters 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

All posters must be removed by 10:00 pm, Saturday, January 7. The GSA Administrative Office staff, the Town and Country Resort and Conference Center staff and the personnel taking down the boards will not be responsible for posters left on boards by the authors. Work crews will remove posters that remain on the poster boards after 10:00 pm.

Posters may be mounted on thin poster paper or cardboard and attached to the poster board with pushpins. GSA will provide approximately 25 pins per board. The pins will be available at the entrance to the Ballroom. Do not mount your poster on heavy or thick backing, as it may be difficult to fasten to the board. Do not write or paint on the board.

  • Break your poster up into sections labeled with titles. Start with a brief Abstract that can be easily read and digested and contains a clear statement of your conclusions, so the reader will understand where you are headed. The following sections should describe Strategy and Results. Write clear, short legends for every figure.
  • Only include enough data to make your point. Don’t display every gel, sequence, and genotype. Don’t waste space on experimental details or supply long tables or long sections of text. A poster is not a manuscript; it should be more telegraphic in style, and more accessible. Write plainly, simply and briefly.
  • End with a Conclusions section. Many posters provide a bulleted list of conclusions and questions raised. Many viewers will first look for the conclusion section. If it is missing they may walk on.
  • Make the title large enough to be read easily from a reasonable distance (10-15 feet).

The poster schedule may not be altered. If there is a conflict in presentation times, you must cancel your presentation or change presenters. Please notify Anne Marie Mahoney, Meetings Manager, at annemarie.mahoney@verizon.net or (301) 571-2333 or the GSA Administrative Office (301) 634-7300 about any changes.
